Welcome to our new newsletter!  It’s been a while since we sent one.  We hope you find it interesting and informative!  If you have any suggestions about things you would like included in future issues, please contact Katharine.

Some keen eyed observers will have noticed that in September we started to roll out a new logo.  It’s a new logo for a new era of WRTD.  Over the coming months you will see it in more and more places – online, on buses, on brochures, on uniforms, on signs, to name just a few places!  We hope you like it.

At the end of September two new buses arrived at WRTD.  The new buses, funded by Connecticut Department of Transportation, are 35ft long and will primarily be used on the Storrs-Willimantic Route.  We’ve got a few things to add to the buses before they are ready for the road, but expect to see them on the road by the end of October.

Over the last few months WRTD has been part of several events in the community including:
 - Willimantic Boombox Parade on 7/4
 - UConn Graduate Student Resource Fair on 8/21
 - Celebrate Mansfield Parade and Festival on 9/16

Jenny moved to US in June of 1996.  Looking for a job in where she could be off when her daughters were off from school, she decided to obtain her CDL license in 2000.  She started working with WRTD in February 2018 as a part-time driver.  Just 2 months later she transitioned to fill an opening for a dispatcher in the office and was given the opportunity to demonstrate her abilities.  She is very happy to know that now our Spanish speaking community can call us and there is someone at the office who can understand them and help them with any concerns they have.

Jennifer has riding with WRTD since 2009.  She works at a social service agency in Willimantic and is unable to drive due to Cerebral Palsy.  As Jennifer explains, “Having access to public transit has enabled me to work, and to see clients in the Windham area.  The drivers and dispatchers are always professional and pleasant.  I know that with WRTD, I will be able to get where I need to go, and will be treated well by the staff involved in transporting me.”  It’s great to have you Jennifer!

Did you know that WRTD has 98 bus stops in its service area?!  That’s a lot of places to catch a ride… and that doesn’t include locations where you can flag down the bus between the official stops (available in selected areas on our routes).
