WRTD will offer regular weekday service on Friday, July 3. There will be NO service on July 4, however, the 991 (Norwich) will run its regular schedule on July 4.

Notice is hereby given that the Windham Regional Transit District intends to apply for a federal grant for operating, administrative, capital, and/or technical assistance to provide Rural Public Transportation for fiscal years 2021 – 2024. The application for federal assistance is pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311 Nonurbanized Area Formula Program and will be submitted to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT).

Windham Regional Transit District will accept comments and views on the proposed grant application from the public for a period of at least fifteen (15) days. A copy of the application is available for viewing per written request to pjohnson@wrtd.org Written comments regarding this application must be sent to Philip Johnson, 28 S Frontage Rd, Mansfield Center, CT 06250 or by email to pjohnson@wrtd.org The Applicant may also be contacted by calling (860) 456-2223. Comments received will be considered by Windham Regional Transit District for inclusion in the final application submittal to CTDOT.

Temporary Service change Due to Covid-19 we will no longer be running the 674 SW Late (8:40 pm- 11:41 pm) effective April 20, 2020 until further notice. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

991 Norwich/Foxwoods

With the closing of Foxwoods, route 991 will end service at 6:45 PM each day. The 10:42 PM run will not operate. In addition, there will be no Sunday service. Service continues to terminate at the Norwich Transportation Center (no Foxwoods service).

675 Hunting Lodge Rd

Service will resume on Hunting Lodge Rd on Monday, 3/23, but will operate on a Friday schedule all week.

Keep Others Safe

Bus drivers and fellow riders rely on members of the public to follow public health direction to not travel when sick, Our drivers and your fellow riders are relying on you to you wash hands frequently, cough or sneeze into your elbow and DO NOT TRAVEL IF YOU FEEL SICK.

COVID-19 Response

WRTD is disinfecting our buses daily to keep you safe. We ask that if you are sick you do not travel. We will not have penalties for late cancellation. We will continue to operate as long as it is safe to do so, but will be altering service as needed.

Rear Door Boarding

During this time, we will be boarding all passengers through the rear door where possible. Customer requiring the wheelchair ramp or kneeler are still welcome to board through the front door.

Fare Collection & Pass Sales

We will not collect cash on our routes and will not provide transfers. We ask all customers to maintain a safe social distance from the driver of six feet where possible. We ask that all passes be purchased online in the Fares section. Dial-A-Ride and ADA paratransit will continue to collect fares as usual.

Route 991 Norwich/Foxwoods

Starting 8:00 PM 3-17-2020 991 Norwich/Foxwoods will terminate at the Norwich Transportation center and return to Willimantic. This is temporary due to the Foxwoods closure. We will keep you updated on any further changes.

Thanksgiving Week Schedule

There are several schedule changes for Thanksgiving week, 11/24/19-11/30/19:

Route 674 will not operate the last trip of the evening during the entire week.

Route 675 will operate but will not operate on 11/28/19.

Route 671, 672, 674, 675 and 993 will not operate on 11/28/19.

Dial-A-Ride will not operate on 11/28/19 but will operate on 11/29/19.

Route 991 will operate all week, including 11/28/19.

Changes to Mansfield Bus Pass

The Mansfield Bus Pass will now provide free rides on the following routes:

Willimantic East
Willimantic Central
City Bus until it is discontinued on 8/19
Storrs-Willimantic
Hunting Lodge when it starts on 8/26

Mansfield Bus Pass holders can request a transfer ticket for a WRTD Commuter Route and would pay an additional $1.50 or 1 punch.

This program is funded by the Town of Mansfield.

New Windham Town Hall stop

A new stop on High St next to the Windham Town Hall has been installed. This stop will be used from August 19th onwards on the Willimantic Central route when travelling westbound (towards Gateway Commons). Riders travelling eastbound (towards Walmart) should use the Noble Hall stop.

Se ha añadido una parada nueva en High Street cerca de la casa alcaldía. Esta parada se comenzará a usar de agosto 19 en adelante en la ruta central de Willimantic (Willimantic Central) viajando hacia el oeste (hacia Gateway Commons). Pasajeros viajando hacia el este (hacia Walmart) usarán la parada de Noble Hall.
