Route 991 Norwich/Foxwoods

Starting 8:00 PM 3-17-2020 991 Norwich/Foxwoods will terminate at the Norwich Transportation center and return to Willimantic. This is temporary due to the Foxwoods closure. We will keep you updated on any further changes.

Thanksgiving Week Schedule

There are several schedule changes for Thanksgiving week, 11/24/19-11/30/19:

Route 674 will not operate the last trip of the evening during the entire week.

Route 675 will operate but will not operate on 11/28/19.

Route 671, 672, 674, 675 and 993 will not operate on 11/28/19.

Dial-A-Ride will not operate on 11/28/19 but will operate on 11/29/19.

Route 991 will operate all week, including 11/28/19.

Changes to Mansfield Bus Pass

The Mansfield Bus Pass will now provide free rides on the following routes:

Willimantic East
Willimantic Central
City Bus until it is discontinued on 8/19
Storrs-Willimantic
Hunting Lodge when it starts on 8/26

Mansfield Bus Pass holders can request a transfer ticket for a WRTD Commuter Route and would pay an additional $1.50 or 1 punch.

This program is funded by the Town of Mansfield.

New Windham Town Hall stop

A new stop on High St next to the Windham Town Hall has been installed. This stop will be used from August 19th onwards on the Willimantic Central route when travelling westbound (towards Gateway Commons). Riders travelling eastbound (towards Walmart) should use the Noble Hall stop.

The schedule and route changes cover three of the four fixed routes that WRTD operates. No changes are being proposed for the Willimantic-Norwich Route 32 Commuter Route. WRTD will conduct two public hearings regarding proposed schedule and route changes on Monday, May 20, 2019. Written statements concerning the proposal may be submitted at the hearing or by mail, hand delivery or email by May 23, 2019

Stop changes at Mansfield Senior Center and Juniper Hill – Effective May 6, 2019

WRTD recently acquired several longer buses for their fixed routes. Unfortunately these buses cannot safely serve the existing bus stop location at the Mansfield Senior Center.

The following changes will go into effect on Monday, May 6, 2019:

New stop location – Maple Road next to crosswalk and Wright’s Way intersection (Permanent change)
New stop order – The bus will now stop at the Senior Center BEFORE going to Juniper Hill. It will not stop when travelling back. (Permanent Change)
Additional stops – Juniper Hill will be served every time Mansfield Senior Center is served (so the bus can safely turn around). (Temporary Change)

Delayed opening on 3/4

Due to the heavy snow, Dial-A-Ride and all WRTD routes except Route 32 will have a delayed start on Monday, March 4, 2019. All routes will begin at 9:00 AM. Route 32 will run the regular schedule, but expect delays. Danielson will begin its morning run at 9am. Download the Ride Systems app or visit www.wrtrdtracker.com to track our routes in real-time.

WRTD will be implementing new fares on Monday, May 6, 2019. This move follows a period of public outreach and comment period in January 2019. The biggest change is the introduction of the new Ten Punch Pass. This one pass can be used for fixed routes, Dial-A-Ride and ADA, providing significant discounts and flexibility for riders.

Changes to service during winter storms

WRTD buses will continue running for as long as we can during winter storms. If we need to alter service we will post information about stopping and re-starting service on twitter, facebook, the bus tracker website, on WILI radio, TV Channel 3, the bus tracker app (Ride Systems).
