WRTD will offer regular weekday service on Friday, July 3. There will be NO service on July 4, however, the 991 (Norwich) will run its regular schedule on July 4.

SERVICE CHANGE: Beginning this Tuesday, May 26, 2020, #991 (Route 32 Commuter Service) will resume full, daily, round-trip service between Willimantic and Foxwoods Casino.
Notice is hereby given that the Windham Regional Transit District intends to apply for a federal grant for operating, administrative, capital, and/or technical assistance to provide Rural Public Transportation for fiscal years 2021 – 2024. The application for federal assistance is pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311 Nonurbanized Area Formula Program and will be submitted to the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT).
Windham Regional Transit District will accept comments and views on the proposed grant application from the public for a period of at least fifteen (15) days. A copy of the application is available for viewing per written request to pjohnson@wrtd.org Written comments regarding this application must be sent to Philip Johnson, 28 S Frontage Rd, Mansfield Center, CT 06250 or by email to pjohnson@wrtd.org The Applicant may also be contacted by calling (860) 456-2223. Comments received will be considered by Windham Regional Transit District for inclusion in the final application submittal to CTDOT.

991 Norwich/Foxwoods
With the closing of Foxwoods, route 991 will end service at 6:45 PM each day. The 10:42 PM run will not operate. In addition, there will be no Sunday service. Service continues to terminate at the Norwich Transportation Center (no Foxwoods service).
675 Hunting Lodge Rd
Service will resume on Hunting Lodge Rd on Monday, 3/23, but will operate on a Friday schedule all week.
Keep Others Safe
Bus drivers and fellow riders rely on members of the public to follow public health direction to not travel when sick, Our drivers and your fellow riders are relying on you to you wash hands frequently, cough or sneeze into your elbow and DO NOT TRAVEL IF YOU FEEL SICK.
Stay Informed
These measures are temporary and we will continue to evaluate service and make modifications as deemed necessary. Follow us on Facebook and sign up for our email list for the most up to date information. You can also download our new RideSystems app in the Apple and Google app stores to get real-time bus locations and alerts.
WRTD is disinfecting our buses daily to keep you safe. We ask that if you are sick you do not travel. We will not have penalties for late cancellation. We will continue to operate as long as it is safe to do so, but will be altering service as needed.
Rear Door Boarding
During this time, we will be boarding all passengers through the rear door where possible. Customer requiring the wheelchair ramp or kneeler are still welcome to board through the front door.
Fare Collection & Pass Sales
We will not collect cash on our routes and will not provide transfers. We ask all customers to maintain a safe social distance from the driver of six feet where possible. We ask that all passes be purchased online in the Fares section. Dial-A-Ride and ADA paratransit will continue to collect fares as usual.
On Monday, August 19, 2019 WRTD will be implementing changes to their bus routes. The new route brochures are now available online and on buses. Brochures will be arriving at various community locations in the next few days.
One new brochure includes all route information in English and Spanish. A Chinese version is available online.

The fall is going to be an exciting time at WRTD. We will be implementing our schedule and route change proposal that was recently reviewed by the general public. We will also be running a new fixed route – Hunting Lodge – which will be funded by the University of Connecticut.
At the beginning of May, WRTD was invited to speak on Community Access TV’s Windham Works. Representative Susan Johnson spoke with Katharine Otto, WRTD’s Shared Transportation Planner, about what has been happening at WRTD and what is hoped for the future.

WRTD recently acquired several longer buses for their fixed routes. Unfortunately these buses cannot safely serve the existing bus stop location at the Mansfield Senior Center.
